Pacific Fire Door Inspectors - We Inspect to Protect Life Safety

FDAI / Intertek

Welcome to Pacific Fire Door Inspectors

California has adopted new codes which among many others, include NFPA 80, 2007 Edition. In NFPA 80 you will find all the information and requirements for Fire Rated Doors, Frames, and Hardware. NFPA 80 explains in detail all of the requirements and actions needed to ensure your Fire Rated assemblies are compliant with the applicable codes.

Pacific Fire Door Inspectors have been trained through a rigorous program offered by the Door and Hardware Institute, and Certified through Warnock Hersey / Intertek. You can rest assured knowing that you have the most elite inspection group to review and certify your openings in a timely, precise and accurate manner.

With a background in both installation and specification writing, we know the proper way these openings are to function and what maintenance is required to prevent the failure of the various types of hardware and applications.

A high percentage of openings are considered deficient due to poor installation and or maintenance. In addition to inspections of openings, we also offer knowledge / confirmation with code requirements if desired field modifications will void the rating of the assembly.

Standard For Fire Doors And Other Openings

NFPA 80 - Standard for Fire Doors and Other Opening Protectives, 2007 Edition, states the following;

“Fire Door Assemblies shall be inspected and tested not less than annually, and a written record of the inspection shall be signed and kept for inspection by the AHJ.”

“Fire doors, shutters, and windows are of no value unless they are properly maintained and closed or are able to close at the time of fire. A periodic inspection and maintenance program should be implemented and should be the responsibility of the property management.”

“Functional testing of fire door and window assemblies shall be performed by individuals with knowledge and understanding of the operating components of the type of door being subject to testing.”

These requirements ensure Fire Door Assemblies are able to provide the protection for which they are designed.
